The role of the Catholic church for the inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in society
Is the Catholic church in Africa ready to have this conversation and take a step to dialogue with the LGBTQ community? What is lacking? Is there hope? What should be done?
These questions and more will be at heart of the “dialogue with the Catholic Church: the role of the Catholic church for the inclusion of LGBTQ+ people in society.” Wednesday , 25th May, at 8pm CET, live on Facebook Page of Gay Christian Africa.
Fr. Gustave Noël Ineza from Rwanda, will talk about the stand of the Catholic church and its journey on issues such as homosexuality and gender Identity, as well as the challenges the Catholic church in Africa faces on such topics today. A step toward a very engaging and important dialogue with churches that Gay Christian Africa is trying to engage through its project Ubuntu Inclusive Dialogue.
Ubuntu means “humanity”: I am because you are you are. The word “Ubuntu” comes from the Bantu linguistic family. Ubuntu Inclusive Dialogue project aims to bring to surface conversations that seems uncomfortable to create space to dialogue and learn together. It also go deep in African cultural backgrounds and traditions to find values such Ubuntu, that can enhance inclusion of everyone regardless his sexual orientation or gender identity. Values that would complete religion to become more welcoming and inclusive.
